Its monday which has turned out to be the day I reveal my favorite links from the weekend.
A couple of weeks ago I watched the beautiful losers movie. Which was more or less my introduction to alot of the artists featured in the film. Whilst watching, there were alot of references to skateboarding culture. Most of the artists themselves were part of skateboarding crews. And so it seems natural that they would take a closer look at the intersection of skateboarding and art. Which is what this next set of web episodes does. Its shot in the same style of beautiful losers and so highly recommended! DIY America, Skate & Create
Anyone heard of a guy called Ji Lee? Well he’s googles creative director. Apparently a creative genius. He got alot of exposure when he pasted speech bubbles on posters in new york and got people writing their own phrases in Lee’s placed speech bubbles. Well thanks to Sight Unseen we get to see how a “creative genius” lives. There are a bunch of cool ideas in Lees apartment. Where else would you see a miniature room on the ceiling or a womans ass being attacked by a tank?
Really liked the look of this short film Pumzi Its a south african sci fi flick.. Why does that still sound weird? Youd think after District 9 I’d know better! The south africans are producing some great creative stuff lately.
Heres a little something for the design interested. Jason compiled an excellent list of recommended reading. Alot of these books are already on my shelf but there are a couple that Im hoping to get in the near future.
